Our idea is to have Cara playing the girl as we want her to be the main actress in the video. Cara will be playing the guitar and singing while she follows the boy in a ghost, unreal like form, similar to Robbie Williams in "Candy".
Cara will follow the boy as he meets up with his mates and acts like a typical lad and eventually another girl the boy is seeing. Cara will make fun, pull faces and annoy the boy in the dream like state and the boy will be unaware to her presence until she makes physical contact.
Cara will be aware to the audience and may even interact with them but not other characters when she sings and plays the guitar to the song. This will be the indication that she isn't really there. The moving shots will be filmed using a Steadicam and Jib arm.
This will be inter-cut with shots of the band and Cara singing in a warehouse possibly on a stage with lots of back lighting set up similar to the McFly music video "That's the Truth".
The colour will be bright and natural trying to give it a colourful tone. We also want to keep the pace fast with quick transitions, hidden transitions and whip pans will blur and change to another location. This will add a more stylish and creative look to the video.
When engaging with Cara on our initial ideas, she wanted it to be fun rather than be too serious. During our first meeting with Cara, she said that she wanted to perform a choreographed dance in a town centre and possibly a flash mob. We had a discussion with the group and then decided we would include some of her ideas but changed it to more of a narrative.
We have told Cara about our idea and she seems to really like it, we are going to show her the story board and then arrange locations and actors.
Influences
McFly: That's the Truth
We want to have a similar look for our band/stage scene. this would be made by setting up lights behind the band to create a silhouette. This scene should hopefully be filmed in a warehouse, this would give us enough space to set up. As well as Cara and the band we might have a crowd in front of them. We would also want to use a projector to project video over the band, these would be short scenes from the narrative. Cara also like our idea of throwing handfuls of glitter into the projection light to create sparkles and an interesting effect.
Robbie Williams: Candy
This is the sort of moment and fun we wanted to capture in our music video. We wanted Cara to move and follow the boy like Robbie Williams does with out being noticed or seen by the other characters.
Katy Perry: Last Friday Night
This is what Cara original wanted her video to be similar to, but we want to maintain the fun, comical and young sense that this video gives.
Taylor Swift: Never Ever
The influences we have taken from this video are, the way Cara will interact with the audience and not be seen by the characters in the dream/ghost like state. and the transitions to other scenes and locations.
